GIG schedule of speakers and samples

Schedule for upcoming GIG meetings in 2012
Gluten Intolerance Group of Portland
every 2nd Saturday 10am-12noon
Emanuel Medical Center, rm #M.O.B2

Find us still at Emanuel Medical Center, now on the south side of the building in room #M.O.B.2 (Medical Office Building 2). With parking across the street in Parking2.
Next year we will be in Rm 1075 on the North side of the Medical Center
near the Info and Admitting Desk. 

Nov 10 - our Annual Thanksgiving Gluten-Free Potluck (bring a GFdish to share and printed copies of your recipe - contest for best top 3 dishes and prizes!)
Speaker: Dr Samantha Brody of Evergreen Natural Health Center on Staying Healthy on a Gluten Free Diet

Samples by: Who needs samples when we will also be having our Gluten-Free pre-Thanksgiving Potluck and Recipe Contest?! Bring your favorite 100% guaranteed GF Thanksgiving dish, with 30 copies of the recipe and we'll feast and listen to Dr. Brody. If you are new to the GF diet, and are unsure if what you are eating is actually gluten-free, please just come and eat and enjoy. ONLY bring 100% GF dishes!

Nov 17 GIG of McMinville hosts a huge GF Thanksgiving Feast. Bring your best gluten-free pot-luck recipe and there will be GF turkey, GF ham and GF rolls waiting for you. This is held every year at the First Baptist Church of McMinnville, right in beautiful downtown McMinnville. It's a feast not to be missed. So fun! People from the GIG chapters of Portland, Salem, McMinnville and Lincoln City all come. It's so much fun!

Dec 8    Gluten-Free Gathering - we all join for brunch/lunch out at a GF restaurant and enjoy a social event together. Location TBD. Any suggestions?

Jan 12   Gluten-Free 101. Every January we start the New Year off right. This is a free-for-all Q&A. We will have some experts on hand to answer every and all of your questions as well as give an update on the latest info in the gluten-free world

Dr Anderson-Ross will discuss the history of wheat and gluten, and what has become of what was once seemed such a healthy grain to all.

Mar 9   Joy Ceilidh of The Liberated Kitchen.  SCD, GAPS, Paleo - What's the difference? Being gluten-free isn't always the whole answer. If you still have symptoms (physical or mental) a healing diet might be right for you. We'll discuss some popular grain-free diets and how to choose the one that will work best with your lifestyle.
