Harvester Brewing GF Pale Ale 22 oz Bottles Available

Harvester Brewing Gluten-Free Pale Ale Bottles

Available Now

Harvester Brewing, a Portland, Oregon dedicated gluten-free brewery, just bottled its first batch of Harvester Pale Ale. This flavorful pale ale is handcrafted from chestnuts, sorghum, oats, and pure cane sugar, and generously hopped with Nugget, Cascade, and Meridian hops. The chestnuts are sourced directly from an Oregon farmer and hand-roasted at the brewery. The certified gluten-free oats come from a Montana company that grows them in an area isolated from gluten-containing grains. With its true craft beer flavor this 6.8% ABV brew has been highly anticipated by those whose diets are gluten-free.

The first batch of this beer in 22 ounce bottles is available now at Belmont Station, 4500 SE Stark Street in Portland. As capacity increases we expect distribution of Harvester beers to many more beer specialty stores and natural food supermarkets. We are excited to finally share the first craft beer created in our dedicated gluten-free facility. In the next year we will be adding more styles to our regular line-up. Please continue to follow us on Facebook or sign-up to receive emails through our website so we can continue to share the latest news with you.

She competed on taste, texture and appearance against traditional bakers who had no restrictions on their ingredients.

Whats at stake: Chef Bussanich was the first ever gluten-free baker to compete on the show in December 2010. Though judges crowed about her baking, she came in 2nd place.

A year later, she was asked to compete again on the episode titled, The Closer 100th Episode. As the winner, selected from 4 bakers who had all previously competed, Bussanich catered a party celebrating the 100th episode of the hit TV show, The Closer, starring her namesake, actress Kyra Sedgewick.

Book and media appearances: Bussanich has appeared on several TV shows (in Portland and been interviewed in several newspapers and magazines and ezines (Oregonian, Gluten-Free Living). About Kyra: Portland native, lives in Lake Oswego. Graduated from University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. Then, after being diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder, she was forced to switch to a wheat- and gluten-free diet. Motivated to make high-end pastries that she could enjoy, Bussanich graduated with honors from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie program in Portland. Disappointed with most of the gluten-free pastries and cakes available on the market, Bussanich began experimenting with alternative flours and developed recipes that matched her dietary needs without compromising any of the classic bakery tastes and textures.

New In-Office Celiac Test in Europe

This would be like an in-office strep test or pregnancy test. How exciting. I wonder how it differs from BioCard/CeliacSure which tests only for tTG IgAsays it has a 93% accuracy, and currently available to Canadian residents only.

Augurix Diagnostics Receives the 2011 'Debiopharm /Valais Award' for its Point-of-care Diagnostic Test for the Early Detection of Celiac Disease

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, November 9, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Debiopharm Group™ (Debiopharm), a Swiss-based global biopharmaceutical group with a focus on drug development and companion diagnostics, presents the 2011 'Debiopharm /Valais Award' to Augurix Diagnostics (Augurix), a privately held company based in Monthey (Valais), that focuses on point-of-care testing in the field of gastro-enterology and initially on Celiac disease. Debio R.P., the Martigny-based structure of Debiopharm, will award 20'000 Swiss francs to Augurix CEO Thierry Duvanel during the ceremony that will take place on November 10th during the Ark Innovation Day at BioArk.

Augurix has developed a diagnostic test (Simtomax®) used for the screening of Celiac disease. The test replicates existing expensive laboratory diagnostic procedures, using a fraction of the blood sample normally required, and it delivers results in 10 minutes with equivalent reliability. The intended use of Simtomax® is to exclude Celiac disease when performing large screening or differential diagnosis, thereby moving faster towards therapy. This diagnostic test significantly reduces the medical costs and use of healthcare services.

"It is an honour for Augurix to receive the 2011 Debiopharm /Valais Award," declared Thierry Duvanel, CEO of Augurix SA. "Our company is focused on point-of-care testing, which is one of the major trends shaping the future of medical diagnostics. Receiving this award reinforces our vision and is a great incentive for us to move it forward."

"The jury was unanimous in its decision to elect Augurix for the Award," said Rolland-Yves Mauvernay, President and founder of Debiopharm Group™. "We were seduced by their skills in the diagnostic area and by their ability to develop a point-of-care strategy, which we are sure will open new approaches for the treatment of the Celiac and other diseases. Debiopharm is committed to the development of life sciences in the 'Health Valley' and believes strongly in the Valais of tomorrow. We wish Augurix all the best in their future endeavours."

"Augurix is a five-year old company that has demonstrated its total commitment to patients suffering from Celiac disease. The attachment of the company to the canton of Valais and their commitment to innovate at their location is additional evidence that the canton can attract sophisticated industries," added Dr Jean-Claude Villettaz, Vice President of The Ark Foundation and President of the Award jury.

Quite a selection of GF desserts including GF sesame balls to die for. Caution: at $1.50 each, these sesame balls are quite addicting.
